Sanzo Inari Shrine is a shrine that was enshrined as a guardian deity when the founder of Fukuyama, Katsunari Mizuno, built Fukuyama Castle.
When he was 21 years old, he went on a journey of wandering and warrior training from the castle of Mikawa Kokuya. At that time, my grandfather, Tadamasa, received a deity from Kyoto Fushimi Inari Shrine. Katsunari continued to hold his body in battle in Shikoku and Kyushu and was able to receive the protection of Inari. The origin of Sanzo Inari Shrine was built in 1619, when a castle was built in the land of Fukuyama, and the north side of the castle (Kimmon) was revered as the guardian deity of the Bingo country. Since then, the Fukuyama castle lords of the generations have attended the festival, and there have been many branch offices in Sakai.
The legend of this shrine
Late story in the Edo period.
The samurai from the Fukuyama lord and the Abe family, who took the role of money bank (the position of money management), headed for Edo from Fukuyama with a lot of money for the samurai. It was said that there was a lot of robbery and robbery on the way, and it was said that it was dangerous. Sometimes there was also a murder. Strangely, however, it was always out of nowhere that a ridiculous samurai was helped.
Even if you ask his name to the samurai, he will not tell you. At one time, the samurai who wants to escape asks the samurai to grab the samurai sleeve. “At least your name.”
“I am the one who says Sanzo, who is troubled by Johoku in Fukuyama,” and the samurai disappeared. Speaking of Fukuyama's Johoku, there are many palaces and temples, not places where people live. I finally notice the role of Noto. That person is a fox at the Inari Shrine in Johoku.
The fox used to protect the many Fukuyama samurai, including the Fukuyama lord. Taking this opportunity, we created a company of Sanzo Inari in the Abe family's Edo residence and Fukuyama Castle.
Ten years later, in 1855, a major earthquake occurred in Edo. At that time, Masahiro Abe, who was in the Edo residence, noticed that there was a Sanzo fox on the roof when he ran away from the residence with the servants. And he told the existence of Sanzo fox to the servants who escaped in a hurry. Thanks to this, the family members were able to regain calmness, extinguish the fire, carry out furniture, act calmly, and survived the disaster without difficulty.
Since then, Sanzo Inari, which sang the Sanzo fox, is still enshrined on the site of the Fukuyama Castle.
